One of my first experiences in the world of marketing was as a qualitative assistant for a focus group firm, Chicago Focus Network. This position provided me an insider's view to the qualitative side of market research.
During this time, I learned more about how focus groups were conducted, and how important these sessions were for clients to understand their customers perceptions, insights, and anything else that can not always be measured quantitatively.
A large part of my job consisted of screening participants in the registration process to take part in focus groups.
Additionally, I assisted moderators in conducting focus groups, such as passing notes to the backroom. My favorite experience was helping a client to conduct a taste testing for a product with comparison to a competitor's product.
