I had the opportunity to compete in a couple of national competitions, one being: The 2008 PayPal College Challenge. I thought the team competition would be a good fit for me because of my marketing and technology background so I decided to partake in the challenge along with five other talented students from my university.
Objective: To build and demonstrate a PayPal-centric innovation that improves the lives of college students around the globe while being technically feasible.
Solution: We created a web tool platform that allowed for universities to utilize PayPal for their financial aid and campus services operations. The web tool platform also provided students with the ability to perform a variety of financial tasks such as managing funds, paying bills, and transferring money to friends.
Result: PayPal executives awarded our team with 1st place due to the level of innovation, completeness, quality, and overall professionalism of the product demonstration.
About PayPal: PayPal was founded in 1998 and was acquired by eBay in 2002. Today PayPal is a global leader in online payments. The service allows anyone to pay in a variety of ways, such as through credit cards, bank accounts, buyer credit, and/or account balances. Additionally, PayPal offers a host of products for use by non-profits, businesses, and individuals.
